+ How Does the Smell Sensors Work?
The smell sensors work through air quality algorithms that detect changes in the room environment. Air sensors can be triggered when opening a window, from air conditioning or heater vents, and even food smells from cooking or baking. Changes in the environment are detected by VOC readings which are volatile organic compounds in the environment where the iBaby is located. VOCs are man-made and can come from products like paint, cigarette smoke or even dust. The monitor can also, at some level, detect the smell of a dirty diaper. However, the app will not tell you what smell it is detecting. It will notify you by alerting you what level the room quality is by following the air quality chart that ranges from 1-4.
